A laboratory course introducing the observational, computing, and data analysis techniques in current use in optical astronomy. The work involved observation planning, telescopic observing with a 14-inch Planewave Instruments telescope and CMOS camera, filter photometry on celestial targets, and image calibration in order to extract physical information from the resulting data.
